  • Can I attend group meditation classes at the Center?

We ask that you attend a Meditation workshop, either the Neophyte or Just Be before coming for a meditation class at the Center.  The reason is that the workshops teach you the basics and give you some tools and techniques to practice during the group meditation session along with your fellow meditators. Once you have attended the workshop, you are welcome to come to the satsang/group meditation/discussion sessions by purchasing our regular meditation/yoga package.

  • What is your workshop cancelation policy?

Your payment is non-refundable, but if you are not able to attend it, you can certainly transfer the registration to a friend or family. Please call the Center and let us know at least 72 hours before the event.  If it is an emergency cancellation within the 72 hour period, we are happy to honor the registration fee less a $25 processing fee and apply the balance towards an upcoming workshop.

  • Can I sign up for the workshop online?

Yes, you certainly can. You will need to complete the application form before paying for the workshop through Paypal. Register now

  • What are some Do’s and Don’ts of meditation?

There are very few Do’s and Don’ts in meditation and we will guide you through them during the workshops.

  • I have health issues and can’t sit on the floor. Can I meditate?

Of course you can meditate! You don’t need to be seated on the floor in a cross legged position.  You can choose to sit on a comfortable chair and practice meditation. We have chairs or cushions for you to choose, so you can practice in comfort.

  • How long will it take to learn meditation?

Learning to meditate is not a fast process, but it is not complicated either.  A regular practice is important to see changes in the mind and body and your health in general.

If you have never meditated before, and want to get a taste of what it is like to meditate, you can start with the Neophyte workshop, which is 2 hours long and is ideal for beginners.  However, we do have beginners or people who have never meditated before attend the Primordial Sound Meditation workshop, and they truly enjoy the experience!

  • How often do you have meditation workshops?

We offer the basic and Sound meditation workshops on a regular basis. See meditation schedule

  • Can my child meditate?

Yes, they certainly can. For young children, we recommend and offer kids yoga classes which allow them to calm down, bring in focus, and improve memory as they are HAVING FUN!  If meditation is needed, based on the age of the child, we teach them a simple meditation that they can practice safely.  See Kids Yoga schedule

  • What are the benefits of meditation?

    • Improve your physical health
    • Achieve deep relaxation
    • Access your true inner self
    • Improve creativity and intelligence
    • Increase your energy levels
    • Promote inner peace and calm
    • Improve your memory and concentration
    • Enrich your life

  • Will I need to change my lifestyle?

No, there is no need to change your lifestyle and become a vegetarian or vegan.  The only change is to allow the time to meditate regularly – as you practice, any other changes that need to occur happen spontaneously.

  • Is meditation a religion?

No, meditation is not a religion.  Though many religions like Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam have some form of meditation as part of their practices.  Meditation can be learned by people of any culture or religious background.  Even if you atheist, agnostic or are not a religious person, you can learn to meditate.

  • Will meditation help with my health?

A regular meditation can certainly bring about positive changes in your physical, mental and emotional state of being. Though meditation cannot be considered to be a cure, research studies have shown that it contributes to reducing stress and can help with alleviating some disease symptoms like high blood pressure, depression, anxiety, insomnia, headaches, and migraines.  See research on meditation

  • How does this meditation help with stress relief?

When we are stressed, the mind is filled with agitated thoughts and the thought patterns continue to weave a web which can leave you in a tangled mess! When the mind continues to be disturbed over a period of time, the body starts to get affected with physical ailments such as blood pressure, cholesterol, headaches, migraines and other “stress related diseases”.

With Primordial Sound Meditation, even though your body is resting deeply in meditation, your mind is awake, but quiet.  The term "restful awareness" captures this unique combination of physical relaxation and an alert yet quiet mind.

As we meditate, we begin to release stress at multiple levels and can develop deeper insight into our essential nature. We shift from a place of fear and anxiety to one of confidence and equanimity or balance.

  • Why should I meditate?

The hectic pace of modern times has resulted in excessive stress and anxiety. The pace of life has accelerated, and every day we are bombarded with more information and stimulation than our ancestors encountered during entire lifetimes. Not surprisingly, the number of people suffering from stress, anxiety, insomnia, and chronic health problems is on the rise — and many are searching for peace of mind.

When we are able to move into a state of restful awareness where the body is relaxed and the mind is quiet but alert, we begin to experience peace of mind and a general sense of well being. Meditation allows for those bursts of inspiration, for the feelings of compassion and love!  There is scientific research on meditation, that shows that when you meditate, your breathing slows, blood pressure decreases, and stress hormone levels fall.

  • What is Primordial Sound Meditation?

Meditation has been a part of many cultures for thousands of years as a means to go beyond the mind’s busy activity into a state of tranquility and peace. The essential aspects of these timeless teachings have been maintained in their pure, original form, ensuring consistent physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits. Primordial Sound Meditation is a time-tested meditation technique dating back thousands of years to the ancient Vedic traditions of India. It is a healing practice that allows us to experience inner calm and deep relaxation.
